About the Development Code

The Development Code is the set of regulations that guide how development should occur in Clark County.  This includes zoning and subdivision standards, among others.  Adopted in 2000, the current Development Code has been amended numerous times over the past 20 years and is no longer aligned with the Master Plan.  As a result, the Development Code is challenging to use and administer.

The goal of the Development Code rewrite is to organize standards and regulations so that citizens, developers, and county staff and decision-makers know what is expected of any development proposal.  Completing this rewrite in conjunction with the Master Plan rewrite will help ensure that —moving forward—the County’s policies and regulations will work hand in hand.
